I was on the homestretch of a late afternoon walk, just passing the playground on my block as I approached my house. The playground was covered with children in the same way an unattended potato salad gets covered by ants at a picnic. The sky was pregnant with rain and the smell of it was in the air. One flash followed by a loud boom an instant later, the children scattered like ants and bustling playground was suddenly empty. The rain started less than a minute later just after I had made this image and was unlocking my front door.
